Staunton, VA – Luck Stone Corporation celebrated 30 years without a lost time injury yesterday of its Augusta Plant.
Almost 100 people attended the safety ceremony, which was held at the Holiday Inn Golf & Conference Center in Staunton. Attendees included county board of supervisors, officials and inspectors from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the Department of Mines Minerals and Energy (DMME) including its Director of Mineral Mining, Conrad Spangler, the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) and the National Stone and Sand Gravel Association (NSSGA). Additionally, Mr. Spangler presented a letter and a certificate on behalf of the Governor’s Office congratulating the plant on its safety record.
“Luck Stone’s commitment to advancing the health and safety of our associates is a core value for our company,” said Doug Palmore, director of Risk Management. “Additionally, we developed our Value Safety process based on input and ownership from all associates.”
Monte Wood, Luck Stone’s Augusta Plant Manager noted, “The origins of Value Safety at Luck Stone are based on the behaviors and commitment exhibited by the Augusta team.” Wood added. “Our 30-year safety record is due to our associates making the right choices every minute of every day.”
