Luck Stone Expands Its Footprint

Luck Stone recently acquired two new sites in Virginia from Vulcan Materials Company. This came about as a result of the Department of Justice’s requirement that Vulcan divest a quarry and a distribution yard in Virginia in order to complete its acquisition of Florida Rock. As part of the agreement with Vulcan, we exchanged our crushed stone operations in Elkton and Augusta for Florida Rock’s South Richmond Quarry located at 2100 Deepwater Terminal Road and the Gilmerton Yard on 4606 Bainbridge Boulevard in South Hampton Roads.
For some time Luck Stone’s business plan has included pursuing acquisitions in the Richmond and Tidewater regions, and the Vulcan divestiture presented a unique opportunity to meet our business goals for long-term sustainability. “In alignment with the company’s stated mission and business units’ objectives, Luck Stone pursues strategic opportunities that support our goals to keep the organization financially healthy as well as strategically positioned for future growth and long-term sustainability,” said Charles S. Luck IV, President and CEO of Luck Stone. “These new locations in Richmond and South Hampton Roads will significantly strengthen the company’s potential to compete in the dynamic Tidewater market and along the Eastern Seaboard.”
President of Luck Stone’s Construction Aggregates Division Rich Wright added, “We are confident that Vulcan will operate the Elkton and Augusta Plants as ongoing businesses within Vulcan’s successful structure, and we have worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition to Vulcan.” Wright added. “Our valued associates at the Elkton and Augusta sites are committed to providing the same high level of service that customers have come to expect from Luck Stone associates at all of our locations statewide.”
For 85 years Luck Stone has been serving customers with a solid commitment to provide outstanding customer satisfaction and efficient order fulfillment. Our goals are to build long-lasting relationships with customers, advance their businesses’ success and enrich communities where we operate.
We are excited about the future, our new presence in the growing South Hampton Roads construction market area specifically, and about building long-lasting relationships with new customers. For more about Luck Stone contact Luck Stone Corporate Communications at 866-930-LUCK (5825).
