LUCK STONE SUPPORTS STURGEON REEF CONSTRUCTION
The Virginia Sturgeon Restoration Team—representing a partnership between Virginia Commonwealth University, the James River Association, Luck Stone, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, among others—recently collaborated to create a 300-foot-long artificial reef along the James River. It is hoped that the long-endangered Atlantic sturgeon will use this reef as a breeding and nesting ground, helping to rebuild the local population to sustainable levels. Click
PLANTS REWARDED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Two of Luck Stone’s quarries joined an elite group of businesses in Fall 2009. The Spotsylvania and Powhatan quarries were recognized by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality for achieving E3 status.
