LUCK STONE SUPPORTS STURGEON REEF CONSTRUCTION

The Virginia Sturgeon Restoration Team—representing a partnership between Virginia Commonwealth University, the James River Association, Luck Stone, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, among others—recently collaborated to create a 300-foot-long artificial reef along the James River. It is hoped that the long-endangered Atlantic sturgeon will use this reef as a breeding and nesting ground, helping to rebuild the local population to sustainable levels.
