Environmental Stewardship Luck Stone Announces Winners for its Third Annual Environmental Award

Fairfax, Va. -- Luck Stone Corporation, headquartered in Richmond, Va., recently presented its third annual Environmental Award for on-site customers to Superior Paving located at Luck Stone’s Fairfax Plant and Crider & Shockey’s on-site location at Luck Stone’s Bealeton plant. The purpose of the award is to recognize and reward two on-site customers (one asphalt and one concrete producer) annually for their plant’s appearance, environmental practices, and community involvement.

Luck Stone has conducted annual environmental audits of its on-site customers for nearly 20 years. “The environmental award gives Luck Stone an opportunity to recognize its neighboring customers for their unmatched commitment to maintaining their properties and environment in and around their operations,” said John LeGore, regional vice president of Luck Stone’s Northern Region Division. “Aligning with Luck Stone’s strict standards for plant appearances and environmental practices, Crider & Shockey and Superior Paving play an integral role in supporting their local communities, which was yet another significant contributor to their award win.” Legore added.

Luck Stone’s environmental audit covers environmental compliance, site appearance, permitting and paperwork, employee training, and active community involvement. Jeff Powers accepted the award on behalf of Superior Paving, a Bristow, Va.-based company. “We’re so honored to be recognized by Luck Stone and are proud to be a recipient of their environmental award,” said Powers. “Everyone at Superior, our Fairfax plant employees specifically, strive daily to meet Luck Stone’s environmental award criteria.”

Crider and Shockey, headquartered in Winchester, Va., had a strong presence at their award ceremony, which was hosted by Luck Stone’s Bealeton plant associates. “We’re so humbled to be recognized by Luck Stone for our sound practices, which center on safety, the environment, plant appearance and quality of our products,” noted Ricky Green, Crider & Schockey’s Bealeton plant supervisor. “Luck Stone brings out the best in us and we hope they’ll continue to empower us to serve as ambassadors of our environment and local community.”
